Donald Trump posted a series of AI-generated images to his Truth Social account on Sunday in which he bizarrely and falsely claimed an endorsement from Taylor Swift.
One of the images is a Photoshopped image of Swift dressed as an Uncle Sam, reminiscent of classic military recruiting posters, with the words “Taylor wants you to vote for Donald Trump.”
Additionally, Trump shared a fake news article which falsely claimed Swift's fans were “turning on President Trump” following a recent terrorist plot against Swift's concert in Vienna, Austria.
The post's collage also includes an AI-generated photo of a woman wearing a “Swifties for Trump” T-shirt.
Trump captioned the collage: “I accept!”
To be clear, Swift is not endorsing any candidate in the 2024 presidential election. However, she did support Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in the 2020 election. “The change we need most is to elect a president who recognizes that people of color have the right to be safe and represented, that women have the right to choose what happens to their bodies, and that the LGBTQIA+ community has the right to be recognized and accepted,” she told V Magazine about her decision at the time.
Swift also criticized President Donald Trump's response to the COVID-19 pandemic and his role in inciting white supremacy and racism throughout his term as president, and urged her fans to “request your ballot early, vote early.”
Trump also commented on Swift earlier this year, when in an interview with Variety editor-in-chief Ramin Setoodeh to promote his book, “The Apprentice: How Donald Trump and Mark Burnett Led America Through the Looking Glass,” he questioned whether the pop singer was actually a liberal, saying, “I'm amazed that a country star can be liberal and be successful.”
