Donald Trump on Sunday gave a “love story” in response to a fake photo showing Taylor Swift fans supporting the Republican presidential candidate.
The former president shared screenshots from his TruthSocial social media accounts of women wearing “Swifties for Trump” T-shirts, with most of the photos appearing to have been generated by artificial intelligence.
“The Swifties for Trump movement is real!” one X user wrote in a post shared by Trump alongside a photo collage that was clearly labeled “satire.”
The other fake image shows Taylor Swift – who has criticized the former president over the past few years and is known for supporting the Biden-Harris campaign in 2020 – dressed as Uncle Sam with the caption, “Taylor wants you to vote for Donald Trump.”
“Yes I accept!” Trump wrote.
It's unclear whether his comment was referring to the AI-generated photos of “Swifties” cheering him on, or the fake endorsement from the pop superstar.
Two of the photos posted are genuine and show Trump supporter Jenna Piwowarczyk wearing a “Swifties for Trump” shirt at a campaign rally in Wisconsin.
Former President Donald Trump has shared a number of AI-generated photos of Taylor Swift fans wearing “Swifties for Trump” T-shirts, including one that he has labeled as “satire.”
The pop superstar, who earlier this year became a central figure in a right-wing conspiracy theory involving her, her NFL star boyfriend Travis Kelce and President Joe Biden, has yet to endorse a candidate in the 2024 race.
Swift has previously said Trump's 2016 victory was a “complete surprise” and has been an outspoken critic of the former president in past elections.
On social media, she criticized Trump's response to the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests, writing, “You've stoked the fires of white supremacy and racism your entire presidency, and now you have the nerve to feign moral superiority before threatening violence? 'When the looting starts, the shooting starts'? I will be voting to oust you in November. @realdonaldtrump.”
The pop superstar later criticized what he called the former president's “planned dismantling” of the U.S. Postal Service in August of that year.
“He knows very well that we don't want him as president. He has chosen to blatantly cheat and endanger the lives of millions of Americans in order to stay in power.” Swift wrote at the time:.
Swift's fans are hoping she'll take the stage at this week's Democratic National Convention, CNN reported Sunday, but sources said no big-name speakers have yet been finalized in Chicago.
