U.S. News & World Report released its 35th annual rankings of Best Hospitals. Twenty hospitals were recognized in the Best Hospitals rankings, while 98 were recognized for equitable access.
U.S. News & World Report released its rankings of the best hospitals for 2024-2025 on Tuesday.
Last year, the report stopped ranking hospitals by excellence and instead published a National Honor Roll that lists the best hospitals in alphabetical order. (Mayo Clinic had topped the list for seven consecutive years prior to the change.) This year's list included 466 community hospitals, of which 20 earned a place on the Honor Roll due to their “exceptional breadth and depth of excellence,” according to a press release.

Additionally, for the first time, the Best Hospitals rankings include Best Hospitals in Communities for Equitable Access, with 98 hospitals noted for their “success in caring for patients in historically underserved areas,” according to the release.
“Choosing the right hospital for your needs shouldn't be a guesswork exercise,” U.S. News Health Analysis Chief and Editor-in-Chief Ben Harder said in the release. “The 2024-2025 Best Hospitals edition provides patients and their families with clear, data-driven insights into hospital performance, empowering Americans to choose the facility that best suits their specific healthcare needs.”
This year's rankings also included several new data refinements, including data on care provided to outpatients and patients with Medicare Advantage insurance, and nearly doubled the number of patients included in the analysis, according to U.S. News & World Report.
According to the report, the Best Hospitals Honor Roll includes the following hospitals:
The study includes Brigham and Women's Hospital (Boston), Cedars-Sinai Medical Center (Los Angeles), Cleveland Clinic, Duke University Hospital (Durham, North Carolina), Penn Presbyterian Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia), Houston Methodist Hospital (Houston), Johns Hopkins Hospital (Baltimore), Massachusetts General Hospital (Boston), Mayo Clinic (Phoenix), Mayo Clinic (Rochester, Minnesota), Mount Sinai Hospital (New York), New York-Presbyterian Hospital (Columbia and Cornell), Northwestern Medicine (Chicago), North Shore University Hospital at Northwell Health (Manhasset, New York), NYU Langone Hospital (New York), Rush University Medical Center (Chicago), Stanford Health Care (Palo Alto, California),
