Emily in Paris is part fantasy, part aspirational TV show. The storyline is generally implausible and far from reality. But wouldn't it be nice to dream about running around Paris, wearing flashy clothes, and sipping endless cafe drinks? Surprisingly, most Americans don't dream of moving to Paris to live the best Emily in Paris life.
KickResume surveyed over 1,000 Americans to find out which European cities they would most like to move to permanently, and the top three are far from the City of Light. According to the new survey, the top three European cities people would most like to move to are London, Rome, and Barcelona. Paris came in fourth as the city American workers would most like to move to, followed by Dublin.

So why are these cities so attractive to American workers? Just a small part of the motivation has to do with shows like “Emily in Paris.” Just 3% of respondents said they wanted to move to a European city because they saw the place on TV or in a movie.
Many people who want to move to European cities do so because they've always dreamed of exploring them and are motivated by wanting to experience the city's culture and cuisine. The good news for those looking to move to Barcelona and Rome is that both Spain and Italy offer digital nomad programs, which means that even if you can't find a marketing company to work for like Emily, you can still move while continuing with your current job.
Of course, if you dream of cruising around European cities but reality means you have to stick to living in the US, don't worry: we've got itineraries for the perfect Paris and London trip, plus tips for the best things to do in Dublin, Barcelona, and Rome.
