UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — During the week of July 29-August 2, students from Penn State World Campus and the College of Education’s joint Doctor of Education (D.Ed.) program were invited to the University Park campus for a week to not only meet and interact with their D.Ed. peers, but also to enjoy a unique Penn State experience.
“World Campus/School of Education Doctoral Program students are already Penn State students, but bringing them to our amazing campus and giving them the opportunity to meet each other and our world-class faculty makes their experience even more incredible,” said Joe Polizzi, director of the World Campus Doctoral Program in Education.
The World Campus D.Ed. program is a 37+ credit, inquiry-based, practice-oriented, interdisciplinary degree program for professionals in education, counseling, government, and human services. Offered in a flexible, asynchronous format, the degree offers students the opportunity to go beyond a master's degree and engage in advanced research-oriented professional learning and practical application. The program draws from multiple disciplines and allows students to customize their curriculum by choosing from a variety of emphasis areas, including adult education, organizational development and change, higher education, learning, design, technology, educational leadership, and special education.
Throughout the week, Bachelor of Education students participated in academic workshops, social and cultural events, including tours of the Faculty of Education and the University Park campus, presentations by faculty from the department on a variety of topics including Artificial Intelligence (AI) in schools, academic bullying and accessing and using the resources of the world-class Pattee and Paterno Libraries, and participation in several group discussions and activities aimed at developing research skills and graduation projects.
