During a recent sales trip to Japan and Korea, Brand USA implemented a unique collaboration to streamline inbound travel.
Brand USA has partnered with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
Together, they conducted approximately 800 Global Entry mobile enrollment interviews to help travelers obtain membership.
This initiative will help facilitate travel to the United States from Japan and South Korea by streamlining entry procedures through the Global Entry Trusted Traveler Program.
“This collaboration demonstrates the strong commitment from both the public and private sectors to enhancing the travel experience for international travelers,” said Aaron Woden Schwartz, chief corporate officer for Brand USA.
This is a joint effort to promote travel between the two countries as part of the U.S.-Japan Tourism Year.
“This is a monumental milestone in the U.S.-Japan Year of Tourism Cooperation that will make the travel experience easier and safer for our visitors,” said Assistant Secretary for Travel and Tourism Alex Lasry.
The Global Entry program allows for expedited immigration processing for pre-approved, low-risk travelers upon arrival in the United States.
Those approved for Global Entry will experience faster processing times at the airport.
During the sales missions, CBP officers conducted face-to-face interviews with travelers who completed the online Global Entry application process.
This allows leisure, business and student travelers from throughout the region to complete their registration without having to travel to the U.S. for an interview.
Brand USA and its federal partners are discussing additional opportunities to bring this to other markets in the future.
The sales missions to Japan and Korea enabled U.S. travel industry partners to engage with leading travel industry professionals through seminars, conferences and presentations in Osaka, Tokyo, Seoul and Busan.
These efforts have resulted in over 1,200 individual business meetings.
