Viktor Hovland almost won at St. Jude, and it's rare to see a player like Hideki Matsuyama out of form and then birdie two of the most difficult holes on the course to pull away for victory.
Here are this week's golf picks.
This is the final standard betting event of the season, with the Tour Championship still using the handicap system.
This week also sees five tour events taking place around the world, including the final LPGA major.
BMW Championship Pick
Best Bets: Wyndham Clark +3300 (BetRivers)
It's been almost 20 years since I last visited Castle Pines, but I'm happy to be back.
This is a completely different course than what most players have experienced this year: the course stretches out over 8,000 yards, but the distance is shorter due to the higher elevation.
Clark would be my top player at a relatively home game in the city he grew up in. He's been on a roll for a while now, finishing in the top 15 in four of his last five tournaments, including a seventh place finish last week and a 14th place at the Olympic on two courses that simply don't suit his style.
He's fitter and more comfortable this week, so it wouldn't be a surprise to see him in contention for the win.
Other bets: Tony Finau +3300, Will Zalatoris +9000, Nick Dunlap +12500
Danish Golf Championship Predictions
Best bet: Shubhankar Sharma +6600 (BetRivers)
For the second week in a row, the DP World Tour sends us to a new location, this time to Lubker Golf Resort in Denmark, a resort that has previously hosted a few smaller events on the Challenge Tour's lower circuit and so there may be some local advantage for the Danish player this week.
With so many unknowns on the course and the Hoygaards looming as favourites, I won’t be nearing the top.
Sharma has high hopes for this week. Although he finished a disappointing 40th at the Olympics, he had strong showings against some of the best PGA Tour competitors at the British Open and Scottish Open before that, and he also placed fifth in his most recent DP World Tour appearance in Italy.
That seems like a good number for someone who has been performing pretty well in fairly deep fields recently.
Other bets: Andrea Pavan +6600, Robin Williams +10000, Lucas Bjerregaard +12500
AIG Women's Open Predictions
Best bet: Charlie Hull +3000 (bet365)
The women's team had the chance to compete at St Andrews for the first time since 2013 in the final major tournament of the season.
The player to watch this week is Hull. She has had a few majors under her belt, most recently finishing second here and at the 2023 U.S. Open. Her game seems on track to finally break through. She finished fifth at the Scottish Open last week and has also placed second this year.
Hull have had a solid run of performances throughout the major seasons so I expect them to win on home soil in the UK.
Other bets: Hannah Green +4000, Rio Takeda +7000, Haruka Kawasaki +10000
Boise Open Pick
Best bet: William Mouw +4500 (BetRivers)
The Korn Ferry Tour finals start this week in their usual location of Boise. It’s a short course with high elevation, so I’m hoping to use the event from two weeks ago in Utah as a jumping off point.
One of the reasons I'm keeping an eye on Mahut is because he placed fourth in this tournament and has been pretty consistent overall, and he's probably just a week away from locking down his tour card for next season.
Like many tournaments on this tour, this one also tends to be low scoring, and Mahut ranks 3rd in tour scoring average and 14th in birdie average, so the odds are good for a player of his level.
Other bets: Isaiah Salinda +5000, Frankie Capan +5000, Austin Hitt +5500, Will Chandler +10000
Ally Challenge Pick
Best bet: Rod Pampling +8000 (bet365)
The Champions Tour heads to Michigan this week for the seventh annual Arai Challenge.
Courses over 7,000 yards are on the long side for anyone over 50, so distance has served me well in the past.
The top brands all seemed reasonably priced and nothing really caught my eye, so I'll start with Pampling instead.
Pampling's form has been hit-and-miss this year, but this course may just suit him well: He's finished 16th or better in all four of his starts, including three top-10 finishes.
Other bets: David Brunsdon +11000, Shane Birch +14000
KBC Augusta Recommendations
Best bet: Lee Sang Hee +2200 (bet365)
The week in Japan will conclude at Keya Golf Club, one of the tour's most famous courses, where the course has been played for over 30 years.
It's always great to have a track record like this overseas, and Sanghee Lee is the top player this week, having placed 16th, 2nd and 6th in her previous three appearances here.
He's been playing really well lately, splitting his time between the Japanese and Korean tours, finishing 11th or better in five consecutive tournaments.
Other bets: Taichi Nabeya +2800
