With the summer international football over, club football returned to TV screens this weekend as the 2024/25 season kicked off across Europe.
While there were plenty of new faces from many of Europe's top clubs, the opening weekend's matches were dominated by veteran superstars looking to prove they still have what it takes.
Now that you've had your fill, it's time to take a look at the best performers in Europe during Week 1.

Joao Neves made his Ligue 1 debut for Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday and to say he was impressive would be an understatement.
The 19-year-old was in a superb all-action performance in the second half of the comfortable win over Le Havre, showing quality play on the one hand with the ball, picking up two assists, and on the other hand without the ball, winning five duels.

Samuel Mbangula was a surprise addition to Juventus' lineup to face Como on Monday night, to say the least.
And Samuel Mbangula repaid the new manager's faith with a fine performance, to say the least.
His goals and assists have ensured Thiago Motta's time in Turin has gotten off to a perfect start.

It's 2024 and Danny Welbeck is still performing at a top class level in the Premier League.
The 33-year-old was in excellent form in Brighton & Hove Albion's match against Everton at Goodison Park over the weekend, taking advantage of a defence without Jarrad Branthwaite to score a goal and provide an assist.

Luis Enrique doubled his total goals tally for Marseille in just one game over the weekend.
The Brazilian showed an incredible touch in front of goal against Brest, scoring two goals in a 5-1 thrashing.
It looks like Roberto De Zerbi has finally let the Brazilian go.

Bukayo Saka was widely predicted to be named Premier League Player of the Year for 2024/25 and after just a week of action it's easy to see why.
His goals and assists helped Arsenal comfortably beat Wolves in their opening game at the Emirates Stadium.

Marco Bresscianini, deployed in place of the Juventus-bound midfielder, starred in Atalanta's first week match, scoring two goals on his debut.
Keep an eye on the 24-year-old throughout this season as he could have a breakout season.

The final few months of the 2023/24 season have been rather disappointing, but Mohamed Salah looked back to his best as Liverpool kicked off.
His deft pass to Diogo Jota for the opener against Ipswich Town and his own sublime finish for the second of the game were classic Salah plays.

One player who is returning to his best form is Robert Lewandowski.
The Polish forward scored two goals in Barcelona's crucial 2-1 La Liga win over Valencia last weekend and looked desperate to put a season in which he failed to reach 20 goals behind him for the first time in a decade.
