Springboro schools and the city are in talks about swapping about a third of that land if what Mayor Chris Pozzuto called “ongoing discussions” go ahead.
Springboro District Chief Operating Officer Scott Gilbert said SHP Architecture ranked highest among several professional design firms that submitted proposals to the district.

The Springboro school board voted Wednesday night to approve moving forward with discussions with the company.
“We will be negotiating with SHP,” Gilbert said, “and if we can't come to an agreement, we will be pushed down the rankings.”
The district has worked with SHP in the past, but negotiations could vary depending on the circumstances, he said. Fanning Howey, which has an office in Celina, was No. 2.
Gilbert said the submission did not include projected costs and that the rankings were based on state procedures, which include services provided, use of consultants, history with school boards and litigation history, he added.

If an agreement with SHP is reached, school district officials say they will analyze not only the Easton property but all of the district's assets and facilities, from a middle school built 95 years ago to elementary schools built this century.
The district's student population of about 6,100 has not changed much in recent years, but the facilities are aging, he said.
Springboro Middle School was built in 1929, Clear Creek Elementary School in 1968, the middle school 11 years later and the high school in 1997, Superintendent Carrie Hester said.
