There is no room for friendly betting in the NFL.
Giants rookie wide receiver Malik Neighbors made headlines earlier this year when he revealed on a podcast that he had made a $10,000 bet with former Louisiana State teammate and current Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels on who would win the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award.
Now the betting starts before the season even begins.
According to The Washington Post, NFL spokesman Jeff Miller said at a press conference this week that the bet between the two players had been “cancelled.”
Additionally, the two players, both of whom were top-six selections in this year's NFL Draft, have had to go through multiple education sessions regarding the league's gambling policies.
Neighbors and Daniels are the latest players to clash with the NFL over its gambling policies: Ten players, including Lions star Jameson Williams, were suspended for gambling last year, according to the Associated Press.
