Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) used its biplane cath lab to perform complex neuro and vascular surgeries on patients at no cost to them.
In the past year alone, the hospital has successfully performed 280 vascular bypass surgeries and 1,520 AV fistula surgeries on dialysis patients. In addition, over 1,000 patients underwent neurosurgery and 600 patients underwent vascular surgeries at the hospital.
“The biplane catheter lab provides detailed real-time images from two angles, enhancing surgical precision and speeding up complex procedures,” said A. Nirmala, dean, CMCH. “This advanced technology helps in performing complex procedures like treating blockages and aneurysms safely and efficiently,” she added.
“The hospital is providing these advanced procedures free of charge, showcasing the effectiveness of the biplane cath lab in treating patients. This approach ensures that quality care is provided to all,” she said.
