(NewsNation) — Former President Donald Trump's golf courses are popular among golfing enthusiasts, but they come with a steep price tag. And soon, Trump's golf course in Scotland will become the most expensive in the world.
The Trump Organization will charge $1,296 to play a round on the Ailsa Course at Trump Turnberry before 1 p.m., with a slightly lower price of $706 after 1 p.m. Previously, the fee for a round was $228.
Turnberry said the morning fee increase is to ensure tee times for guests at the resort, which is considered one of the top five golf courses in the world.
“At our peak times of the year we found that a lot of people were booking tee times but were just coming to play golf and then leaving,” Turnberry general manager Nick Oldham told golf magazine Bunkered.

Oldham also said he doesn't expect to see many tee times at that price because it's much better value to stay at a resort with a package that includes both a room and golf.
“It's good for golfers because they get a full five-star experience, but it's also good for Turnberry. We need to make sure every part of the business is viable. Simply selling rounds of golf is not a sustainable business model,” Mr Oldham added.
The new morning green fees, which will take effect next year, will make Turnberry the most expensive course in the world, surpassing the $1,250 fee at Shadow Creek Club in Las Vegas.
According to government ethics disclosure documents released earlier this year, Trump-Turnberry made $33.5 million between January 2023 and July 2024. The same documents said the Trump Organization made a total of $513 million from its U.S. golf clubs and resorts.
But Trump must pay hundreds of millions of dollars in legal costs and damages in three civil lawsuits he lost in New York state.
