When compared to all 67 counties in Pennsylvania, Indiana County is tied with five other counties, but 44 are outranked. The top five counties are Montgomery (79), Chester (77), Cumberland (75), Bucks (72), and Butler (70). The unhealthiest counties in the state are Fayette (39), Philadelphia (42), Luzerne (46), Jefferson (47), and a three-county tie between Clearfield, Carbon, and Sullivan (48). In addition to Clearfield and Jefferson's unhealthy scores, neighboring Armstrong County has a score of 55, Cambria County has a score of 51, and Westmoreland County has a score of 64.
Indiana County's top issues are public safety, economy and community vitality. Our county ranks highest in the areas of equity, environment and food and nutrition.
According to the report, Indiana County's life expectancy is 76.1 years. The national average is 75.8 years.
