The proposed sky deck in the Karnataka capital will be the largest observation tower in South Asia and will be built as part of the Brand Bengaluru project, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar said on Sunday.
After the project, which will see the construction of a 250-foot-tall tower at an estimated cost of Rs 5,000 crore, was approved at a cabinet meeting on Thursday, Minister of Law and Parliamentary Affairs H K Patil said Shivakumar, who is also Bangalore Development Minister, would announce the details.
Shivakumar announced the details during his visit to Vaishnodevi temple in Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Shivakumar's X post, the project will be located in Hemigepura in southwest Bangalore. Once completed, the sky deck will offer aerial views of the garden city, the post said.
The Skydeck will have shopping centres, food courts, playgrounds and other facilities at its base to promote tourism. A park will also be built around it. According to details revealed by the minister, the government is also considering a project to link the Bangalore Metro with the Skydeck to ensure smooth connectivity to the Skydeck.
The Sky Deck and Tunnel Road project was also approved by the Cabinet on Thursday, a project announced by the Deputy Prime Minister days after the Congress formed the government last year and is considered his pet project.
