Lake Mary's sports restaurant and bar transformed into a victory party Saturday as spectators watched the All-Stars beat Texas in the Little League World Series. Fans cheered as Lake Mary won the U.S. Championship game during a viewing party at Friendly Confines Sports Restaurant. “When you become part of the community like this, they become your kids,” said Rebecca Vandenberg. “Those boys are my sons. I'm so proud of them. They've worked hard for this, but at some point it takes over and it's no longer the coach, it's you guys. You boys, you did it.” The win inspired kids to dream big. “I have a friend on the team named Garrett and I never thought he'd get this far,” said 12-year-old Tyler Garrett. “I never thought they'd do this but they do and I'm really proud of them.” When asked if he'd like to join the team one day, Winn replied, “Maybe. “It's really great to see the boys play with all their heart and give it their all and it's great meeting their families too,” one fan said.
During a viewing party at Friendly Confine's Sports Restaurant, fans cheered as Lake Mary won the national championship game.
“When you become a part of a community like this, they become your kids,” Rebecca Vandenberg said. “Those boys are my sons. I'm so proud of them. They've worked hard for this, but at some point it takes over and it's no longer the coaches, it's you guys. You boys, you made it.”
This victory gave the children the opportunity to dream big.
“I have a friend on the team named Garrett, and I never thought he'd get this far,” said Tyler Garrett, 12. “I never thought they'd do something like this, but they did, and I'm really proud of them.”
When asked if he would like to join the team one day, Wynn replied, “Maybe. If I can get there, that's my dream.”
“No matter what happens tomorrow they should be really proud of themselves because they've already achieved so much,” one fan said.
