So I hope that AI can help. AI won't solve everything, but it could shorten the lifecycle for example. I think game development takes too long, like 5 years per game. You have to predict what the zeitgeist will be 5 years from now, especially in a fast-changing world. So it's all down to luck, and I hope that AI will help streamline the process and make manual work faster. Ideally, we can shorten it to 3 years, have more iterations, and cut the budget a little bit. I don't think it will actually cost less, but at least you can fail faster and keep working on it until you find the right one.
As a gaming industry, I think we need AI and it will help us grow. At the time, we didn't have many new games or genres. On the other hand, we're an established industry, we've been in this space since 1996. In 1996, we looked out the window and said, “Let's make a skateboarding game.” It was very simple… The film and music industries, who have been around a lot longer than us, have a hard time coming up with something new… But ultimately, I think as an industry, we need to innovate on many levels to develop faster and be willing to take more risks.
