Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump issued a stern warning early Sunday, alleging that the leadership of President Joe Biden's administration, particularly Vice President Kamala Harris, is leading the United States into World War III.
“Who is negotiating for us in the Middle East? Bombs are falling everywhere!,” he wrote on Truth Social early Sunday morning. “Sleepy Joe was brutally kicked out of the Democratic Party and is sleeping on a California beach while Comrade Kamala is on a campaign bus tour with her truly terrible pick of a VP candidate, Tampon Tim. Please don't start World War III, we're heading there!”
This follows another post on Thursday: “There is no future with Comrade Kamala Harris because she is leading us into Nuclear World War III!”
Trump's comments come amid escalating violence in the Middle East.
Israel launched a series of airstrikes on Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon on Sunday. The Israeli military said the strikes were a preemptive strike to prevent Hezbollah from firing rockets and missiles towards Israel.
The attack reportedly destroyed thousands of rocket launchers in more than 40 locations, according to Israel Defense Forces (IDF) spokesman Daniel Hagari, who described it as an act of “self-defence”.
Hezbollah retaliated by firing hundreds of Katyusha rockets and drones at Israel in what it called the “first phase” of a wider attack.
This is not the first time the former president has warned about World War III, having used the phrase 32 times in tweets and Truth Social posts since first mentioning it in 2013.

He also accused former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Biden of leading the U.S. into a world war, writing, “I am the only candidate who can make you this promise: I will stop World War III!!!” in 2023.
President Trump has repeatedly said that if he wins the November election, he could resolve the Ukraine war within a day and bring peace to the Middle East, but has offered no evidence of how he would do so.
Trump's concerns about global conflict have been echoed by his daughter-in-law Lara Trump, who has previously warned that a Harris presidency would lead to “recession and World War III.”
She made these comments on the podcast “The Right View,” linking the Biden administration's policies to rising global tensions. “We're really on the brink of a lot of terrible things happening in our country and in the world,” she said.
Newsweek reached out to the Harris campaign for comment in an email on Sunday.
