Six quarterbacks were selected in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, most of whom will play as rookies, but as history has proven, they are not considered top players in fantasy football rankings for 2024. Caleb Williams (Bears), Jayden Daniels (Commanders), Drake Maye (Patriots), Michael Pennis Jr. (Falcons), JJ McCarthy (Vikings) and Bo Nicks (Broncos) all had their names called in the first round, but each player has a different fantasy football projection for 2024. Williams, Daniels and Nicks are likely to be starters in Week 1, while McCarthy (knee) is out for the season and Maye and Pennis are expected to start the season as backups.
CJ Stroud took the NFL by storm as a rookie and developed into a bona fide high-end fantasy football quarterback in 2023. Will one of these fantasy football rookie quarterbacks in 2024 achieve a similar level of success? If you're looking for fantasy football advice in 2024, be sure to check out the 2024 Fantasy Football Cheat Sheet from SportsLine's proven computer model.
Last year, the model accurately predicted that Lions running back Jameel Gibbs would provide much more value than expected in his rookie season, when Gibbs ran for 945 yards and 10 touchdowns while catching 52 passes for 316 yards and one score. Gibbs was an average mid-fourth round pick, but finished as a top-10 running back in CBS Sports PPR leagues.
The same model has a proven track record of providing fantasy football tips, identifying AJ Brown as a sleeper in 2020 and accurately predicting Jonathan Taylor's phenomenal season in 2021. Additionally, they have predicted past fantasy football sleepers such as Derrick Henry in 2019, Christian McCaffrey and Alvin Kamara in 2018, and Davante Adams in 2017. Those who bet on these players have gone on to win league titles.
The model is run by the same people who create the predictions for the three major fantasy sites, and it beat out human experts last season when there was a huge gap in the rankings. Predictions are updated multiple times daily, so you'll always get the best fantasy football advice.

2024 Caleb Williams Fantasy Football Predictions
The model has confirmed Bears rookie quarterback Caleb Williams' 2024 fantasy football projections. Williams, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, has shown explosiveness and playmaking ability in his limited preseason appearances that have made him one of the most highly-anticipated quarterback prospects to enter the NFL in the past decade. Williams will not play in the Bears' final preseason game, but has shown enough potential in his two appearances that he is considered the front-runner for this year's NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Award.
Williams will need to adjust to playing in cold weather, a part of his career in Chicago. After playing in warm climates for the majority of his collegiate career, he will now have to deal with wind and sub-freezing temperatures on a regular basis. Williams currently has an ADP of 103.6 and is an average ninth-round pick in CBS Sports fantasy football drafts. You can see the complete fantasy football QB rankings here.
2024 Jayden Daniels Fantasy Football Predictions
The model also released projections for Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels. The reigning Heisman Trophy winner spent five seasons at Arizona State and Louisiana State before being selected No. 2 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft. Daniels set the FBS single-season passer rating record with the Tigers last season and finished his collegiate career as the only player in FBS history to pass for 12,000 yards and rush for 3,000 yards.
Daniels' rushing experience will be tested in his first season at the NFL level, as the Commanders' receiver corps is thin. Daniels has the advantage of working with offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury, who worked with Patrick Mahomes at the collegiate level and Kyler Murray with the Arizona Cardinals. However, Daniels' top target downfield is Terry McLaurin, and it's questionable how well Daniels will perform after working with elite receivers Malik Neighbors and Brian Thomas Jr. at Louisiana State. You can see each quarterback's rankings here.
2024 Drake May Fantasy Football Predictions
The model also released its rankings for Patriots rookie quarterback Drake Maye. Daniels and Williams are sure to be selections in most fantasy football 2024 drafts, but owners are waiting for more information on the No. 3 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Maye is competing with Jacoby Brissett and fellow rookie Joe Milton for the Patriots' Week 1 starter spot.
Even if Maye doesn't start in the season opener against the Bengals, he could still be worth a late-round pick. The Patriots are expected to struggle this season and could be on the back foot. Maye threw for over 8,000 yards in just two seasons at North Carolina, so his upside could be intriguing for players looking for 2024 fantasy football deep sleepers.
