If you're interested in trying out an AI image generator, you can try Midjourney for free right now: Midjourney CEO David Holz announced this week that users can now take to the company's website to generate up to 25 images for free before signing up to the service.
The site offers three subscription levels, ranging from a basic plan at $10 per month to a mega plan for power users at $120 per month.
As first spotted by ZDNet, the free trial marks a change from how Midjourney got started two years ago, when you had to use Discord to create the AI images, and users also had to tinker with the prompts quite a bit to get the image they wanted.
Midjourney launched its website last year, but it was only available to users who had created at least 10,000 images via Discord, and as you can imagine, that number meant that not many users could take advantage of the tool.
The site requires a Google or Discord account. Users who already use Midjourney with Discord can log in and see images they've previously created. New users can create an account using their Google credentials, and Discord users can sign in and add their Google account to use Google login going forward.

Once you're logged in, you can create your own images or browse images others have created. Once you've filled in the prompts, you'll be presented with four different images to choose from, after which you can adjust the image to transform it into what you're looking for.
In March, Midjourney added a “character reference” feature, which allowed users to upload character images that could be incorporated into prompts if they wanted to make a person's face look more authentic.
