If you watch baseball in any capacity, you know that the stolen base is one of the most incredible plays in baseball. There's a reason it's so rare.
Now imagine doing that in a tense semifinal game of the Little League World Series. That's what Florida's Teraj Alexander did.
During a hard-fought game against Texas in the Little League's flagship U.S. championship game, 12-year-old Alexander had a golden opportunity at home plate after striking out and the pitcher got a little too relaxed on the mound.
Alexander homered with ease, surprising everyone, including the announcer, who accurately captured the moment Florida took its first lead of the game, 5-4, and ultimately won the game in a close contest, 10-7.
Well, I can't fathom how someone could make a play like that in such an important moment, especially from a teenager. Kudos to Alexander for making the play with confidence and perfect timing.
Thanks to Alexander's performance, Florida will advance to face Taiwan in this year's Little League World Series championship game on Sunday. Regardless of what happens next, Alexander and his Florida teammates will forever look back on this incredible game.
