Seyed Ammar Hakim, leader of Iraq's National Wisdom Movement, met with former speaker of Iran's parliament, Ali Larijani, in Baghdad on Sunday night.
In their discussions, they considered the impact of the Arbaeen pilgrimage on the people of Iraq and Iran, and the wider region.
Describing the Arbaeen pilgrimage as an important event with humanitarian, social and reformative dimensions, Hakim expressed his gratitude to the Shiite Marjas, the people, the government, social activists and the Arbaeen Hajj Association for their efforts in welcoming and protecting millions of pilgrims.
The two leaders also discussed the regional political situation and relations between Iraq and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Hakim praised the resilience of the Palestinian people, called for an end to the war in Gaza and stressed the need for aid and return of refugees.
Hakim stressed the international community's responsibility to prevent conflict and warned of its potential regional and global impacts.
