Welcome to the new Chalkbeat!
Regular readers may notice a slightly different look today. Nothing in the articles or site functionality has changed, but we hope you enjoy the new design, which is simple, modern, and puts the work you know and love at the forefront.
Why? It's always nice to have a fresh start to the school year. But more importantly, things are changing as we launch our new sister site, Healthbeat, which officially launches today, covering public health.
Healthbeat reporters will dig into the issues that shape our collective well-being, from infectious diseases to air and water quality to food safety. They'll also bring Chalkbeat's (and Votebeat's) national and local reporting model to the public health effort at a time when it's sorely needed. Healthbeat will begin with bureaus in New York City and Atlanta, and partner with the great folks at KFF Health News for national reporting.
