“Diara From Detroit” and “Black Summer” actor Bachir Sylvain has joined the all-star cast of the next installment in Universal's “Jurassic World” series.
Directed by Gareth Edwards, the dinosaur movie was written by David Koepp (the screenwriter behind Jurassic Park and its sequel, The Lost World) and stars Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Baillie, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Rupert Friend, Mahershala Ali, Luna Blaze, David Iacono and Audrina Miranda.
Universal and film production company Amblin Entertainment have produced six films that have collectively grossed more than $6 billion worldwide, beginning with Steven Spielberg's 1993 blockbuster “Jurassic Park.” After the intergenerational original story concludes with “Jurassic World: Dominion” in 2022, the latest installment, which will usher in a new era for the “Jurassic World” franchise, is scheduled to hit theaters on July 2, 2025.
Spielberg will return as executive producer on the new Amblin film with Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley producing through Kennedy Marshall. Executive vice president of production and development Sarah Scott and creative executive of production and development Jacqueline Garrel will oversee the project for Universal.
Principal photography began in June, with filming taking place in Thailand, Malta and the United Kingdom.
Sylvain is an actor, writer, director and producer best known for his roles in Starz's hit series “BMF,” Netflix's horror drama “Black Summer,” and BET+'s comedy-mystery series “Diara from Detroit.” The upcoming “Jurassic World” is the Haitian-American actor's latest notable appearance. He recently joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe, playing the role of Mystery in Destin Daniel Cretton's “Wonder Man” series for Disney+. Sylvain is repped by Mitchell K.
