The qualifying process ended after last week's Women's Open, and Hall could have qualified with a top 20 finish, but she finished tied for 22nd and narrowly missed out.
So her selection was no surprise, and the inclusion of Nordqvist, 37, and Pedersen was expected, with the latter fielding a team of experienced players to face the usual underdogs in the U.S.
While she acknowledged that Hall and Nordqvist “probably haven't played their best golf all year,” she believes they will get back to their best over the next two weeks as Europe seeks its third away win.
“They've been through it before and they know what it takes. I'm sure the atmosphere and the surroundings will help them get through it,” Pettersen said.
“Our 12 players complement each other, so I want everyone to support each other and stick together because that's the only way we're going to get the job done.”
“It doesn't matter if there's one superstar, because you need all 12 players to play at their best.”
This will be Nordqvist's ninth time competing in the biennial contest, and she will be “taking on the role of a big sister.”
“She's one of my vice-captains and she wanted to play too so it was hard not to pick her,” Pettersen added. “She has the experience to know where her game needs to go and the players are happy to have her on the team.”
“Emily is a player who lives for the Solheim Cup,” Pettersen said of Pedersen's fourth appearance.
“She's got a really strong temperament so she's definitely a player you want on your side in a match play format.”
Valenzuela's arrival gives Europe two new recruits as they look to retain the trophy they reclaimed for a record fourth time in 2019.
Valenzuela narrowly missed out on making the national team last year, but Pettersen said it gave her a “motivational boost,” adding that her play is “so good that really no matter who you pair her with, she's going to make up for them.”
Henseleitn is another player who has had a great season, winning a silver medal at the Paris Olympics and finishing runner-up at the recent Scottish Open to earn a place on the national team.
“She has the confidence and the belief and she deserves to be here,” Pettersen said. “She's a rookie, but in her current form she's probably our best player.”
“It's fun to have some fresh young blood come in and change the atmosphere.”
