Kongsberg Maritime has been awarded a contract by COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry to supply a “mission-critical technology” package for the newest wind turbine installation vessel (WTIV) being built for Cadeler.
This is the fifth Cadeler offshore installation vessel to be built at COSCO's Qidong shipyard in China, all of which are equipped with Kongsberg Maritime systems.
This latest contract is worth approximately NOK 350 million (US$33.1 million).
The GUSTO NG-20000X designed newbuild will be the third A-class WTIV to join the Caderer fleet and, according to the partners, with 5,600 square metres of deck space and more than 17,600 tonnes of carrying capacity, will be one of the world's largest installation vessels for the offshore wind market.
Kongsberg Maritime will supply the complete electrical, automation and propulsion system, including a system consisting of nine thrusters with fixed pitch propellers.
Cadeler is already building two P-class vessels, two M-class vessels and three A-class vessels, with the last due for delivery in the first half of 2027.
