Sid Eudy, known as the wrestler under his ring names Sid Vicious, Sid Justice and Psycho Sid, has died at the age of 63 after a battle with cancer. The news was announced on Monday by his son, Gunnar Eudy.
Eudy began wrestling in 1987 and wrestled in various territories, including New Japan Pro-Wrestling, before signing with World Championship Wrestling in 1989 under the stage name Sid Vicious, a direct inspiration from the Sex Pistols bassist of the same name.
Standing 6'9″, Eudy boasted an incredible physique and was often said to have natural charisma due to his unique appearance. His size helped him form a tag team in WCW called “The Skyscrapers” with 6'7″ Dan Spivey, until Eudy was injured and replaced by Mark Carruth, who later became The Undertaker in WWF/WWE.
Eudy had a brief stint with the iconic Four Horsemen before leaving WCW and moving to the WWF as Sid Justice in 1991. Eudy didn't stay in the WWF for long, re-signing with WCW and then being fired by WCW after his infamous real-life brawl with Arn Anderson.
Eudy returned to the WWF in 1995, renaming himself Psycho Sid in 1996. During this time, Eudy won the WWF World Championship twice. This run with the WWF came to an end when Eudy suffered numerous injuries that required surgery.
After recovering from neck surgery, Eudy competed in various independent companies before moving to ECW in 1999. In ECW, he was greeted as a dominant wrestler who was rarely asked to do more than powerbomb his opponents, but his charisma once again made him a star among ECW's tough crowd.
Eudy's last notable performance was during his return to WCW in 1999. He would go on to win the United States Championship and the WCW World Championship twice. In 2001, Eudy suffered a horrific injury during a live Shin pay-per-view when he jumped off the second rope and broke his tibia and fibula.
Eudy wrestled a few times after his injury but never returned to full-time competition.
