Orio
Back in July, we reported that local sharing app Olio was partnering with Gander to launch a new deals section.
This gives food businesses a way to promote discounted food sales in-store by showing Olio's four million UK users which discounted grocery items are on sale at participating local stores.
Olio app users can browse yellow sticker deals across a list of partner retail groups in Gander, including Morrisons Channel Islands, Philco Markets, PriceWatch Group and Sewell on the Go, which display branded products such as Nisa, Morrisons Daily and Co-op.
App users can add their favorite deals to their Olio watchlist to check availability and then go to the store to purchase as they normally would.
Tessa Clark, CEO and co-founder of Olio, said: “We're excited to work with Gander to give the local community another way to fight food waste – and save money while doing it. We look forward to helping retailers keep even more food out of the trash.”
“This partnership embodies our shared vision of transforming the food ecosystem. By giving people access to these benefits, we're not just saving people money, we're empowering them to make a real impact on the environment,” Corcoran said.
“Together with Olio, we're turning the tide on food waste and proving that sustainability and business growth are natural partners. This initiative empowers retailers to reach more conscious shoppers, strengthens communities and fosters a more sustainable future.”
Gander runs Olio's deals section through a streamlined, easy-to-understand feed, which is distributed in the UK, Australia and Brazil.
Anything not sold within the deadline will be picked up by Olio volunteers and redistributed locally through the company's Food Waste Heroes program.
