Adyen (ADYEN:AMS) announced that Tom Adams will join the company as Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Adams succeeds Alexander Massey, who will complete his role in the role later this year after a decade building Adyen.
“As we look to the opportunities ahead, we see that we are well positioned to solve the ongoing complexities we see in the payments industry,” said Pieter van der Does, co-founder and co-CEO of Adyen. “Tom has experience building and leading global engineering organizations and driving product innovation at scale, and we look forward to his contributions in advancing the benefits of our single platform.”
Adams joins Adyen from Block's consumer business, Cash App, where he served as Head of Engineering for four years. As Adyen's CTO, Tom Adams will oversee the strategic and technical vision for Adyen's single platform across payments, data and financial products.
“As the financial services industry continues to digitize and consumer expectations continue to evolve, there is a tremendous opportunity to drive innovation in this space,” said Tom Adams. “I look forward to joining this great team and helping Adyen realize its long-term growth ambitions and drive customer-driven innovation at scale.”
Adams' appointment has been approved by De Nederlandsche Bank and is subject to shareholder approval at a forthcoming Extraordinary General Meeting, the notice of which will be sent in due course.
