Smart scheduling and calendar tool Clockwise is transforming its interface with Prism, an AI-powered assistant that can manage schedule conflicts, create or clear events in bulk, and turn to-do lists into calendar blocks with text prompts.
Like rival YC-backed startups Vimcal and Reclaim, which was acquired by Dropbox this month, Clockwise is aimed at businesses and focuses on streamlining team schedules, but can also be used by individuals.
The new AI assistant can convert typed instructions into calendar events. For example, when you type a query like “Create a link to schedule a meeting with Severian next week,” it will display a link or a block of text to share your availability. Also, if the suggested meeting timing overlaps with another event, the tool will suggest an alternative time slot for the meeting.
Prism also lets you share a link to your proposed meeting time that other participants can respond to, and the link will also show any potential conflicts.
But if you're planning an urgent meeting, Prism can look at various team members' schedules to choose the best time and automatically reschedule any conflicting events.
You can also schedule a task from your calendar to-do list and move the task when you're ready to attend a meeting. Also, if you want to schedule a similar meeting with a number of people, you can type in a prompt like “Schedule 15 minute individual meetings with Frank, Robin, Nami and Tony.”

You can also quickly reschedule tasks with commands like “Reschedule for afternoon” or “Free Monday morning.”
Clockwise CEO Matt Martin told TechCrunch that the company uses a custom scheduling engine that works with natural language queries to determine conflicts and the best times.
“We've seen a lot of startups try to connect LLM directly to the Google Calendar API. It's no wonder these tools don't work well for anything other than the simplest use cases. We've spent seven years building the most advanced scheduling engine in the world. This layer enables Prism to quickly and reliably make decisions to find the best slots for tasks and meetings,” says Martin.
Clockwise offers Prism for free to all customers and is working on tighter integration with Google Calendar and better support for weekly schedules.
