As outrage continues over the rape and murder of a doctor at RG Kahr Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, West Bengal, India, Shark Tank India judge Vineeta Singh has criticised new women safety measures introduced by Mamata Banerjee's government in the state.
Vineeta shared a photo of the three of them in a cage surrounded by sharks in the middle of the ocean and criticised the Bengal government's safety measures for women working the night shift.
“New guidelines were introduced this week for doctors in West Bengal: 'Night shifts for women will be avoided wherever possible'. By next month, healthcare facilities across the country will do the most convenient thing yet – impose thousands more restrictions on girls. And of course boys will be boys!,” she wrote on Instagram.
“Eventually we'll have giant conservation cages like those used in shark research built for women, because men will be men. This is not the change women want!” Vinita added.
“Cages are for predators, not prey,” the Sugar Cosmetics CEO wrote.

The post received numerous responses, with one user commenting: “I totally agree. As a mother of a daughter it scares me to think of all the things I'd have to warn her about,” while another added: “We just don't seem to be in the mood to make a change. And I agree 'boys will be boys'.”
The West Bengal government on Saturday announced a 'Rathila Sathi' (night escort) initiative to curb crimes against women at the workplace. “Rathila Sathi or women volunteers will be on night duty. Safety zones for women will be identified and will be set up with full CCTV cameras. Separate rest areas with toilets for women will be designated and security guards at government medical colleges and hospitals, district medical colleges and hospitals and hospitals will have to be mixed gender. Police will deploy security guards at all medical colleges and hospitals and district hospitals for overall security monitoring,” Adviser to Chief Minister Alapan Bandyopadhyay told news agency PTI.
