Commerce media company Criteo has announced that its chief executive officer, Megan Clarken, will be leaving the company within the next 12 months.
Clarken will continue as CEO until a successor is named, at which point he will also step down from the board of directors. He has agreed to remain with Criteo in a senior advisory role to ensure a smooth transition.
The board has begun a search for Clarken's successor and has engaged executive search firm Heidrick & Struggles to identify a candidate for the position both internally and externally. Rachel Pickard, Criteo's board chair, thanked Clarken for his leadership, saying, “Mr. Clark has contributed greatly to Criteo's growth and successfully transformed the company into the end-to-end ad tech platform of choice for retail and commerce media.”
Reflecting on his tenure, Clarken, who has led Criteo for the past five years, said, “I am incredibly proud of what we've accomplished during my tenure as Criteo's CEO. Together, we navigated complex industry challenges, built differentiated capabilities and transformed the company into a leading commerce and retail media company.”
Megan Clarken joined Criteo in 2019 after a successful 15+ year career at Nielsen, where she served as Chief Commercial Officer for Nielsen Global Media. With more than 20 years of experience in media and technology, Clarken has been instrumental in Criteo's growth and strategic transformation.
Last month, Criteo announced a partnership with Microsoft Advertising to integrate Microsoft demand into Criteo's retailer network. As Microsoft's preferred on-site media partner, Criteo will extend its monetization technology to build a unified retail media ecosystem and streamline ad buying for advertisers around the world. The partnership also explores using Microsoft's generative AI innovations to power ad creative at scale.
