When the Cleveland Browns acquired quarterback Deshaun Watson, the team included multiple first-round draft picks in the deal to bring the playmaker to Ohio.
The team gave up other draft picks along the way, giving up funds that could have been used to strengthen the team.
Cleveland has made the most of its limited draft picks over the past three years, acquiring players like Martin “MJ” Emerson and Dawand Jones with late picks and showcasing the team's ability to unearth talent even when opportunities dwindle.
Still, as the Browns' decision to cut their roster to 53 players at the NFL deadline demonstrated, not every player can be a contender.
NFL insider Aaron Wilson announced on Twitter that Cleveland will release one of its 2024 NFL Draft picks following its waiver of seventh-round pick Jowan Briggs on Tuesday.

Briggs, a defensive tackle from Cincinnati, is the third defensive tackle the Browns have acquired this offseason.
Cleveland also used its only second-round draft pick on defensive tackle Mike Hall Jr., who is expected to start the season on the NFL commissioner's exempt list following an off-field incident earlier this month.
The Browns signed Quinton Jefferson during the offseason, adding another veteran tackle to the team for the 2024 regular season.
Briggs is believed to be the only 2024 draft pick the team will waive this year.
The 6-foot-1 defensive tackle played two seasons at Virginia before leaving the ACC school in 2021 to join the Bearcats.
Briggs appeared in 39 games with Cincinnati, recording 96 tackles and 14.5 sacks in three collegiate seasons.
