Dolly Parton is giving away free books to children in 21 states and around the world
Dolly Parton's father grew up poor and never had the opportunity to learn to read. And in recent months, the program has expanded across states like Missouri and Kentucky, which are among 21 where every child under the age of 5 can sign up to have a book mailed to their home each month. On Tuesday, she visited both states to promote the program, singing her favorite song, “Coat of Many Colors.”
Judge says he suspects true source of Tupac killer's bail money is being covered up
LAS VEGAS (AP) — A judge has again denied bail for a former Los Angeles-area gang leader awaiting trial for the 1996 murder of hip-hop star Tupac Shakur due to an alleged cover-up in the source of his bail funds. The decision by Clark District Court Judge Carli Kearney on Tuesday came after lawyers for Duane “Keffey D” Davis said they would submit additional financial records to prove that Davis and the music record executives who were guaranteeing his $750,000 bail did not intend to profit from the sale of a story about Davis' life and that the money was obtained legally.

British archaeologists first discovered the sand-filled tombs in the 1930s and marveled at the colorful murals, depicting vibrant grape vines entwining around birds, animals and mythological characters, according to the Israel Antiquities Authority. Authority archaeologists say the tombs, located a few hundred meters from the coast, were likely the burial site of a Roman nobleman around 1,700 years ago, when Ashkelon was a Roman city. The tombs will be open to the public in a new archaeological park.
