Do you have a great idea to provide a solid research experience for honors students looking for a thesis topic, but you need national-scale data so students can crunch the numbers? Or maybe a very small (and very expensive) lens will support a new area of undergraduate research in your lab? The Honors College is here to help.
U of A faculty are encouraged to apply for Faculty Equipment and Technology Grants.
These grants are designed to help clinical faculty, tenured and tenure-track faculty purchase specialized equipment and technology to advance undergraduate research at the U of A. Grants are awarded once per fiscal year, and this year's application deadline is Sept. 27. Applications for up to $7,500 will be considered.
The Honors College launched new Faculty Equipment and Technology Grants in 2016 and has awarded more than $630,000 to date. Faculty members use grants to purchase a variety of materials, from world-class, cutting-edge petroleum datasets to machinery that can be used to develop new technologies for detecting counterfeits in jewelry, apparel, art, pharmaceuticals, and more.
Grants of up to $100,000 will be awarded this year.
For more information on how to apply, please visit the Honors College Faculty Resources page on the Honors College Sharepoint site. When you access the site, you may be asked to log in with your UARK credentials. Apply here.
The grant is funded by a portion of a $300 million gift from the Walton Family Charitable Support Foundation in 2002. The grant is intended to help tenured and tenure-track faculty, individually or in teams, purchase specialized equipment or technology that will revolutionize their undergraduate research programs.
