The San Diego Padres (75-58) and St. Louis Cardinals (65-66) will play the second game of their four-game series on Tuesday at Busch Stadium at 7:45 pm ET. Break down BetMGM Sportsbook's lines on Padres vs. Cardinals odds and make your best betting predictions and forecasts from MLB experts.
Season series: 2-2 draw
The Padres won 7-4 on Monday, with right-hander Kyle Gibson denying his team a chance. Gibson gave up seven runs in 4 1/3 innings, and third baseman Manny Machado homered for his 21st homer. Outfielder Jackson Merrill had two hits and three RBIs.
On Monday, SS Masin Winn and OF Alec Burleson combined for 6-for-11 at-bats in the top of the lineup, while the third, fourth and fifth batters were a combined 0-for-12. That's what the Cardinals have been all about this season: getting runners on base, not allowing runs and watching guys run around the bases defensively.

Padres vs Cardinals predictions and forecasts
prediction
Padres 5, Cardinals 2
Money Line
The Padres are slight favorites here, and frankly, I think they're a bargain at -145. This Cardinals starting pitching staff has collapsed and is one of the worst in baseball with runners in scoring position.
This offense struggled to score against Randy Vasquez on Monday night, and Cease has been vulnerable as of late, but I think he has the edge.
I bet on PADRES -145.
Against run line/spread
Again, Cease will dominate on Tuesday night. He struck out eight in a five-run game against them last year, and I’d bet Dylan Cease at a positive at 6.5 strikeouts or more (+125).
Over/Under
The Over snuck in on Monday, but only got there because the Cardinals pitched horribly. Essentially, do you think the Padres can get 6-7 runs on Tuesday to beat the Over? Sure, they could, but it's hard to count on. The Cardinals are 3-7 O/U in their last 10 games and the Over is 3-5 with 2 ties in the last 10 meetings between these two teams.
Lean under 8 (-115).
