To address Orange County's growing blood supply crisis, the City of Irvine and UCI Health are teaming up to host a blood drive event at the Irvine Civic Center on Wednesday, September 11th from 9 am to 3 pm. Donations will help provide critical care for patients at UCI Medical Center.
Donors will receive a $10 gift card to Target, In-N-Out Burger or Starbucks or a blood donor T-shirt and will have the opportunity to be entered to win four passes to Great Park Ice and FivePoint Arena presented by UCI Health. Reservations are encouraged but not required; you can make reservations online in advance at cityofirvine.org/blooddrive. Walk-ins are also accepted.
UCI Medical Center is Orange County's only Level 1 Trauma Center, transfusing more than 1,000 units of blood each month. Many of the people who receive blood each day are cancer patients, people who have experienced severe trauma such as car accidents, and babies in the NICU. To meet this critical demand, UCI Medical Center needs at least 1,000 blood donors each month to provide appropriate care to people in our community.
