ERM, the world's largest specialist sustainability consulting firm, is working with Centrica Energy Storage to deploy ERM's emission.AI solution, a cloud-based digital tool that uses advanced artificial intelligence (AI) technology to generate detailed, actionable insights to help complex industrial facilities better understand and manage their energy efficiency and carbon emissions.
Centrica Energy Storage (CES), which owns and operates Rough, the UK's largest gas storage facility, is set to deploy emissions.AI at its Easington terminal. emissions.AI provides continuous and autonomous monitoring to monitor energy use by enabling optimization of areas such as process configurations, operating procedures, plant start-up and shutdown and equipment performance. Real-time emissions data will enable Centrica Energy Storage's operations team to accurately identify sources of excess emissions and energy consumption, which will play a key role in reducing future emissions without compromising production.
The project demonstrates Centrica Energy Storage’s commitment to the energy transition, which also includes ambitions for hydrogen storage, transportation and production in the region.
Donna Liddle, vice president of business development at ERM, said: “We're proud to support Centrica Energy Storage in their efforts to reduce their carbon emissions. By transforming their existing data into actionable emissions information, Centrica Energy Storage's team will have access to the information they need to optimise their operations, helping them put their decarbonisation strategy into action.”
“One of our key strategic goals at CES is to reduce emissions across our operations,” said Mike O'Ree, chief of staff at Centrica Energy Storage. “We have projects already in place and underway to reduce emissions at our assets, but we want to empower our business teams to make the right decisions to make significant energy and emissions reductions.”
“emissions.AI helps our teams make savings by making energy and emissions data instantly available and identifying actions they can take to make a difference now. We want to make savings that last, and emissions.AI's groundbreaking technology allows us to embed that capability into our everyday work.”
