A new study has revealed the world's most expensive cities, with a Massachusetts city coming out in the top five.
Earlier this month, internet database Numbeo released its Cost of Living Index, which ranks the world's most expensive cities by assessing factors such as the cost of groceries, restaurant dining and local purchasing power. Each city was given a cost of living score and ranked accordingly.
Boston ranked fifth on the list, ahead of Geneva, Switzerland (first), Zurich, Switzerland (second), New York City (third), and San Francisco (fourth).
According to Numbeo's index, the top 20 most expensive cities in the world are:
Geneva, Switzerland Zurich, Switzerland New York, New York San Francisco, California Boston, Massachusetts Reykjavik, Iceland Washington DC, USA Seattle, Washington Los Angeles, California Chicago, Illinois San Diego, California Canberra, Australia London, England Oslo, Norway Portland, Oregon Tampa, Florida Miami, Florida Singapore, Singapore Denver, Colorado Adelaide, Australia
Boston is also the only New England city to make the list, one of 218 cities to make the list.
