Orbit Communications Systems Inc. has been awarded a $6 million contract to supply advanced satellite communications systems for new naval military platforms in Asia. The company's OceanTRx 7MIL systems will be deployed across the platforms from 2025 to 2030, enabling continuous satellite connectivity for the fleet regardless of environment or sea state (up to sea state 6).
A modular satellite communications system, OceanTRx 7MIL supports a variety of antenna system configurations and can operate on X, Ku, Ka and C frequencies. This allows for simultaneous operation of different frequencies for global operations. The addition of a bespoke switching matrix from Orbit allows multiple internal connections, switching between up to eight antennas and eight modems depending on individual customer requirements.
The OceanTRx 7MIL is designed to operate on modern warships with all the electromagnetic interference and signal noise that comes with it. It adds dual-band and multi-band automatic switching to your ship's satellite communications operations and is ruggedized to operate in military environments.

Orbit CEO Daniel Ashcher added that the OceanTRx 7MIL “provides dual-band capabilities to meet both military and civilian needs in a single system.”
With a diameter of 7 feet (2.2 meters), the OceanTRx 7MIL provides maximum signal availability in a minimal footprint and has an intuitive interface that makes it relatively easy to set up, operate and maintain, Orbit added. The company also said it plans to build a large backlog of OceanTRx 7MIL antennas to support the continued expansion of its fleet across Asia.
