SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Assistant athletic trainer Sierra Moreno will serve as assistant athletic trainer for the U.S. Beach Volleyball team at the FISU World University Championships.
The 2024 Championships will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from Sept. 2 to Sept. 8. Moreno will accompany the beach volleyball team from Aug. 30 to support the team as they compete on the international stage.
Moreno was presented with this special opportunity by athletic training coach Arby Gutsche, who has coached Moreno since she was an intern and continues to coach her now that she has begun her professional career. After leaving Santa Barbara, Gutsche worked closely with Team USA Beach Volleyball Development and the 2021 Tokyo Olympic team, which is where Moreno was presented with this opportunity.
“I am grateful that my connection with the Gauchos has led me to such a challenging, rewarding and exciting opportunity. The U.S. Beach Volleyball team is known for achieving a high level of success on a global scale, and I feel so fortunate to have the opportunity to support the players who make it happen. I am excited to represent my country and UC Santa Barbara on the international stage!”
