MADISON, Ill. (First Alert 4) – Worldwide Technology Raceway will host a NASCAR Cup Series playoff race for the first time following changes to race dates on the 2025 schedule.
Per the announcement, WWT Raceway will host the Enjoy Illinois 300, rescheduled from its traditional June date to Sunday, Sept. 7, 2025, as the second race of 10 Cup Series playoff events.
The Enjoy Illinois 300 will be the only Cup event held on the 1.25-mile track next season and will be a 240-lap, 300-mile race.
“We can't thank NASCAR enough for providing a race of this magnitude for this huge sports market,” said Worldwide Technology Raceway Owner and CEO Curtis Francois. “The St. Louis area has been familiar with memories of great playoff events with the Blues, Cardinals and other sports teams over the years, and now NASCAR can finally add to that prestigious list. NASCAR's selection of our race as a Cup Series playoff race is a testament to their appreciation of the support we receive from our dedicated fans, especially those who witnessed our race sell out the first three years. Worldwide Technology Raceway's continued evolution would not be possible without the unwavering support and dedication of David Steward and his entire family.”
This June, WWT Raceway celebrated its third consecutive sellout of a Cup Series race, with fans attending from 48 states and 20 countries. The three races hosted by WWT Raceway produced plenty of drama. In 2022 and 2023, Joey Logano and Kyle Busch both won by less than seven-tenths of a second. This past season, leader Ryan Blaney ran out of fuel approaching the final lap, handing the win to Team Penske teammate Austin Cindric.
“We are pleased to extend our partnership with Worldwide Technology Raceway as the title sponsor of the Enjoy Illinois 300 NASCAR Cup Series race for a fourth consecutive year,” said Danielle Thomas, Deputy Director of Tourism at the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. “The event has become a key platform for tourism in Illinois, attracting thousands of NASCAR fans from 48 states and more than 20 countries and generating $60 million in economic impact for the Metro East Illinois region. As a playoff race, the Enjoy Illinois 300 looks set to attract even more visitors to discover Southern Illinois' small businesses, outdoor adventures and iconic attractions.”
Enjoy Illinois 300 race start times and the complete weekend schedule will be announced at a later date.
Worldwide Technology Raceway has announced that its ticket office is now accepting deposits and renewals for NASCAR weekend packages.
