San Francisco-based iRhythm has launched its Zio monitor and Zio Long-Term Continuous (LTCM) ambulatory ECG monitoring services in Austria, the Netherlands, Spain and Switzerland. The technology, along with its supporting Zeus AI algorithm, received CE Mark earlier this year.
Zio builds on its previous generation Zio XT to provide long-term continuous cardiac monitoring for up to 14 days, providing an end-to-end experience for patients with potential arrhythmias with 99% patient compliance. iRhythm launched this next-generation monitor in the US in September.
“We believe that the introduction of Zio services in these countries will lead to a positive change in the monitoring paradigm, aligning clinical practice with evidence and improving outcomes,” said Mintu Turakhia, iRhythm's chief medical and scientific officer and EVP of iroduct innovation.
About iRhythm Zio Service
Zio, the company's smallest, lightest and thinnest cardiac monitor, aims to improve the cardiac monitoring experience for patients, and the company says the new service enhancements will also benefit healthcare providers.
Zio's improved form factor is 23% thinner, 62% lighter, and 72% smaller than the previous generation, weighing just 10 grams. The device features a breathable patient-centric design, waterproof housing, and increased adhesive surface area. The system also features a symptom button for easy patient interaction and requires no maintenance or battery replacement.
iRhythm plans to start shipping Zio in new regions in September, with widespread availability expected in 2025.
“Expanding access to our innovative Zio arrhythmia monitoring systems and services to millions of people in Europe marks an important milestone in iRhythm's patient-first mission to positively impact people around the world,” said Quentin Blackford, president and CEO of iRhythm. “We are focused on scaling our highly innovative digital healthcare solutions while making them cost-effective and accessible around the world.”
