RANDOLPH, Vt. (WCAX) – Gifford Health Care will have a new president and CEO in October.
Randolph Hospital has appointed Michael Costa to replace Dan Bennett following his retirement.
Costa is currently CEO of Northern Counties Healthcare in St. Johnsbury, a role he has held since 2019. He previously served as deputy director of the Vermont Health Access Agency and deputy director for health reform for the state of Vermont.
Costa said that once he arrives at Gifford, listening and learning will be a priority to develop common goals and a plan for long-term success.
“Rural health care faces some significant challenges, including recruiting and retaining team members, payment rates that often don't cover costs, patients with complex health needs and changing demographics,” Costa said in a statement. “But it's important not to overlook the strengths of rural health care: access to local services, well-coordinated care, building lifelong patient relationships and the mission-driven experience we offer our teams.”
He is scheduled to join Gifford on October 14th.
