Volodymyr Zelensky signed the law on foreigners in the army.
President Volodymyr Zelenskiy signed a law allowing foreigners and stateless persons to serve as officers in the Ukrainian army. The law also applies to the National Guard and the State Special Transport Service and fully regulates the issue of foreigners serving in the Ukrainian military.
On October 10, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the Law on Contract Military Service of Foreigners and Stateless Persons in the Armed Forces, State Special Transport Service and National Guard, providing for the possibility of service as officers.

The bill reached the President's desk on October 25th. With the signing of Volodymyr Zelensky, more opportunities were given to foreigners.
The bill fully regulates the issue of foreigners in the Ukrainian military. It stipulates the establishment of foreign recruitment centers, the implementation of special inspections, restrictions on entry and exit from Ukraine, and permission for foreign nationals to serve in the intelligence services of the Ministry of Defense.

This plan was justified by the need to increase the number of troops, especially for operations near the border. It is located in the Kursk region. The new law aims to resolve the issue of conscription, especially for jobs that require more combat experience.
Ukraine's Defense Minister Rustem Umerov said the legal reforms are very beneficial and will “strengthen the potential of military personnel.”
Previously, foreigners could only serve as privates and sergeants.
