The presidential election in the United States will be held on November 5. Malgorzata Zakara-Szymanska from the Jagiellonian University spoke to TVN24 about what is important at the end of the campaign of Kamala Harris and Donald Trump. She drew attention to the influence of money on employee actions, the voice of white women, and the support of pop culture stars.
Nine days before the US election, polls still do not show a clear winner in the presidential race. As more people vote early, the number of voters that candidates can influence on the campaign trail is reduced.
Prof. Kamala Harris and Donald Trump talked about what Kamala Harris and Donald Trump can focus on now on TVN24. Jagiellonian University's Malgorzata Zakara-Szymanska, author of the America the Free podcast.

“You have to knock on doors, shake hands, convince”
– The weight of this question, who will win the US presidential elections, is hanging over our heads. This is especially felt by the candidate teams, who double and triple their efforts in the final stage – said the guest of TVN24.
Prof. At the end of the campaign, Zahara-Szymanska drew attention to three important elements – campaign money, the vote of white women and the support of pop culture stars. – Money plays a big role in the American campaign. The Democratic team has more of this money and it seems they have learned their lesson from 2016 and now know that to effectively run a candidate, you just need to be close to the people. It is necessary to knock on doors, shake hands, convince, talk – says the author of the “Free America” podcast.

“Women will decide the outcome of this election”
According to prof. Zachary-Szymanska, candidates should focus on women's votes. – Women will decide the outcome of this election. In 2016, it seemed that Hillary Clinton automatically won the support of American women. At that time, Donald Trump won the women's vote. He said that in 2020 they have already tipped the scales in favor of Joe Biden.
According to prof. Zahari-Shymanska women are “very disciplined and make up the majority of registered voters.” – 64 percent of registered voters in the United States are women. There's a clear difference — suburban white women traditionally vote Republican, she said.
He added that Harris may try to “tear a piece” of the group. – The question arises as to how far the democrats can convince these women (…) if for some of these voters the fact that Donald Trump is convicted of a sex crime will be decisive, – believes the expert.

Star support can mobilize youth
Many US stars openly support the Democratic presidential candidate. Beyoncé appeared at a campaign rally in Houston on Friday. Taylor Swift, Eminem, Jessica Alba and Leonardo DiCaprio have also announced their support. According to prof. However, Zachary-Szymanska does not have a clear answer as to whether popular support will have any effect on the outcome of the election.
– The voice of Beyoncé, Eminem or other famous stars of pop culture can have such an impact that the young generation who do not listen to the voices of politicians will feel that this is something more than a process of boredom, resentment and reality. they don't want to participate in it and just register for the elections, he said.
– The final effect is the synergy of these different types of activities, that is, what the candidates talk about, how their employees work, what the money is spent on, and how many people from different environments clearly and emotionally support one or two candidates. – concluded the author of the podcast.
