On Saturday, Armin Pappelger, president of the German arms company Rheinmetall, announced that one of four planned weapons factories in Ukraine is already operational. Thanks to this, by the end of the year Kiev will receive a large number of Lynx infantry fighting vehicles worth more than 60 billion euros. The first delivery will be 10 pieces.

The contract between Germany's Rheinmetall and Ukraine for the construction of an ammunition factory was signed during the Munich Security Conference in February. The document was signed by company representatives and Ukraine's then Minister of Strategic Industry Oleksandr Kamyshin.
The total investment will amount to hundreds of millions of euros, and Rheinmetall will take over responsibility for plant management. The plan is to produce ammunition that meets both German and Ukrainian military standards.

The project also includes the development of local production capabilities in close cooperation with Ukrainian companies, aimed at supporting the reconstruction and modernization of the country's arms industry.
Rheinmetall plant scheduled to start operating in 2026
According to the agreement, these factories will produce hundreds of thousands of 155 mm shells and corresponding propellants per year. Rheinmetall will take a majority stake (51%) and the Ukrainian partner will continue to own 49%. KK.
