A holiday tragedy. The girl died after eating the dessert
A British teenager has died while on holiday in Rome. The dessert she ate probably contained trace amounts of peanuts, to which she was allergic. The 14-year-old boy's father also required medical assistance.
This family vacation ended in tragedy. Parents from the UK with two children came to Rome for vacation on Thursday. After checking into the hotel, they went out to dinner at a nearby restaurant in the Gianicolense area. Shortly after they returned, the teenager went into anaphylactic shock.

According to Italian media reports, the tragedy occurred about 15 minutes after the family returned from the compound. The teenage girl allegedly ate a dessert that contained traces of peanuts, to which she was allergic.
The boy was taken to San Camillo Hospital, where he died. Later, the 14-year-old boy's father developed a heart condition and needed medical help.

The Guardian newspaper reported that Rome's public prosecutor's office has opened an investigation into manslaughter. A British Embassy spokesperson said the family was receiving support and was in contact with local authorities. It is not yet known whether the restaurant knew about the girl's allergies.
The media reminded that a similar incident happened nine years ago. Later, a boy named Cameron Wahid, also from the UK, died after eating pasta with milk to which he was allergic.
