A Norwegian retail chain has warned that its stores may run out of eggs before Christmas. The country is suffering from a shortage of supplies, and all indications are that most of them will be imported from Denmark.

– We import eggs from Denmark to ensure our customers have enough eggs for Christmas. The eggs will be available in stores next weekend, said Hege Rogunlien, communications director for the Lema chain.

A critical situation regarding supplies emerged already in the spring, with supply problems occurring before Easter and in late May. They also had to rely on aid from neighboring countries.
“We currently have enough eggs in our stores, but we are always looking to replenish our stock with Danish eggs so that we can provide our customers with eggs for both Christmas baking and breakfast.” said Harald Christiansen.
