The Russian attack occurred on Friday afternoon. Ukraine's Interior Minister Ihor Klimenko said the enemy attacked the police headquarters in Kharkiv.
One police officer was killed and 26 others were injured in the rocket fire. “Unfortunately, some of the injured are police officers in critical condition. Doctors are fighting for their lives,” Ihor Klimenko said.

“My condolences go to the relatives and friends of the deceased Colonel Andriy Matviyenko,” the minister wrote.
Four civilians were also injured in the shelling.
Ukraine's Ministry of Internal Affairs assured that “the enemy will feel the reaction of all the forces of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on the battlefield.”

The attack on the police headquarters was not the only attack Russian forces launched in Kharkiv on Friday.
According to Ukrinform, at around 4 p.m., Russian forces fired two ballistic missiles into the Osnovy district of Kharkiv.
Two private houses were seriously damaged by the explosion. There was information that two people were injured.
