On Tuesday, Americans rushed to polling places to cast their votes in the presidential election. Throughout the day, incidents occurred that required service intervention.
Police arrested a man who smelled of gasoline and was in possession of a smoke bomb at the Capitol Visitor Center. As reported, the center was closed for the duration of the operation. “We will provide further information as soon as possible,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, who is in charge of elections, announced that two polling places in Fulton County, near Atlanta, were temporarily closed due to bomb threats from Russia.
The official said the threat was not credible but needed to be investigated. Voting in those locations (Union City, which has a majority African American population) could be extended.

Five similar incidents were reported in Georgia alone. Two more people were arrested in Michigan for “election-related intimidation.”
Threats originating from Russian email domains were reported “in several states,” the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) said in a statement. However, none of these threats were deemed credible.

According to CNN, more than 250 National Guard troops were involved in securing the election. “Slightly less than half of our soldiers support cybersecurity missions,” a spokesperson for the organization said in a statement.
Troops in Alabama, Arizona, Delaware, Hawaii, Iowa, Illinois, North Carolina, New Mexico, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, Wisconsin, and Virginia were placed on alert.
Additionally, approximately 85 members are ready to serve in Colorado, Washington, Florida, and Nevada.
